If you haven’t noticed, my favorite Halloween slash Christmas movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas. I have dreams of decorating our front yard from Halloween right through the holiday season until the new year. Maybe next year though … I say every year.
We had been to a costume party the night before the trunk or treat and had decided to go as Jack and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. So naturally, this idea morphed into our trunk-or-treat idea too.

I found black and white striped socks for my Sally costume at a department store and my booties are from Miz Moos (my favorite shoe store).
We took a Santa hat for Mike too, just in case he got too hot and sweaty inside the mask while we were outside.
Nightmare Before Christmas trunk or treat
As for our trunk, most of it we put together with items we already had at home, especially for decorating the white Christmas tree.

Our white Nightmare Before Christmas tree was decorated with items we already had in storage boxes for Halloween. The Jack O’Lanterns, pumpkin, and cauldron were also straight out of our Halloween decorating tubs.
Oogie Boogie cutout
I found this hand-painted Oogie Boogie wood cut-out at an antique mall hidden in a corner for $25. It was perfect for our trunk-or-treat theme and now I put it on our porch at home for Halloween too.

I made this Jack Skellington Halloween wreath a few years ago and it normally hangs on our front door. It was the perfect addition to our trunk too.
We had so much fun handing out candy to all the kids who came by.
